Photographing the Spitfire at Perth Airport, Scone

With an afternoon free, I decided to head over to Perth Airport at Scone with one goal in mind—to photograph the incredible Supermarine Spitfire that was visiting the airfield.

The Spitfire is one of the most recognisable aircraft in aviation history. Designed for the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, it became famous for its speed, agility and distinctive elliptical wings, playing a crucial role during the Battle of Britain.

It was a fantastic opportunity to spend some time with the camera and capture two images of this iconic aircraft. There’s something special about photographing a piece of living history, and seeing the Spitfire at Perth Airport made the afternoon well worth it.

As a Perthshire photographer, I always enjoy photographing a wide variety of subjects, and aviation is no exception. Visits like this are a great reminder that there are fascinating photographic opportunities right on our doorstep.
