Behind the scenes
Behind the Scenes of a Mustang Boudoir Photoshoot in Perth, Scotland
There’s something undeniably powerful about blending bold femininity with classic muscle—and our recent Mustang boudoir photoshoot did exactly that. As a Perth-based boudoir photographer, I’m always looking for ways to create images that feel both empowering and a little bit unexpected. This shoot brought all of that energy together, and I’m so excited to share a glimpse behind the scenes.
Why a Mustang?
The Mustang isn’t just a car—it’s an icon. It represents strength, freedom, and attitude, which makes it the perfect backdrop for boudoir photography. Pairing that raw power with soft, confident, sensual imagery creates a contrast that’s visually striking and emotionally compelling.
Behind the Camera (and In Front of It)
One of the most special parts of this shoot was capturing some behind-the-scenes moments—something I don’t always get to see for myself. As photographers, we’re usually so focused on directing, adjusting lighting, and perfecting every detail that we rarely get to step back and witness the magic we’re creating.
This time, I had a little help.
A friend of mine—someone I’ve known through school, the gym, and boxing—came along to assist on the shoot. Not only did he lend a hand with the practical side of things, but he also grabbed some candid shots of me working in my element. And honestly? It was so refreshing to see those moments.
There’s something quite surreal about watching yourself do what you love from an outside perspective. The movement, the focus, the connection with the client—it’s easy to forget how much goes into each image until you see it captured from the other side.
Boudoir isn’t just about the final photos. It’s about the experience. It’s about stepping into your confidence, trying something new, and leaving with a completely different view of yourself. Adding a unique element like a Mustang just amplifies that experience—it gives the session an edge while still keeping it personal.
Why Behind-the-Scenes Matters
Sharing behind-the-scenes content is so important, especially for anyone considering a boudoir session. It gives you a real look at what actually happens during a shoot—how relaxed it can be, how much guidance you’ll receive, and how collaborative the process really is.
It also shows that you don’t need to be a “model” to do this. Every pose is guided. Every detail is intentional. And most importantly, every client is supported every step of the way.
A Personal Thank You
And finally, I just want to say this—
Steven, if you’re reading this… thank you.
For showing up, for helping out, and for capturing those moments I wouldn’t have otherwise seen. It meant more than you probably realise.
