From Boudoir to Boxing: Capturing the Energy of a Polish Fight Night in Edinburgh

As a Perth-based boudoir photographer, most of my work revolves around creating calm, empowering, and intimate spaces for my clients. Soft lighting, gentle direction, and a slower pace are all part of the experience I’m passionate about delivering. But every now and then, I step into a completely different world—and last Friday night in Edinburgh was exactly that.

I had the chance to attend an incredible Polish boxing event in the heart of the city, and it couldn’t have been further from my usual studio environment. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere was electric. The energy in the room was intense, filled with anticipation, pride, and raw emotion. It was loud, fast-paced, and completely captivating.

One of the standout moments of the evening wasn’t just inside the ring—it was personal. My son had the opportunity to meet one of his heroes, Scottish UFC fighter Chris Duncan. Seeing that excitement and genuine awe on his face was something I’ll never forget. It’s those moments, beyond the action, that make events like this so meaningful.

From a photographer’s perspective, boxing events are fascinating. Every second holds potential—expressions of determination, flashes of vulnerability, explosive movement, and the connection between fighters and the crowd. The storytelling unfolding in front of my eyes.

What struck me most was how different this environment is compared to boudoir photography—and yet, how connected they are at their core. In the ring, you see strength, resilience, and courage laid bare. In my studio, I see those same qualities, just expressed in a quieter, more intimate way. Both spaces are about vulnerability, confidence, and stepping outside of comfort zones.

Attending events like this reminds me why I love photography so much. It’s not just about the setting or the subject—it’s about capturing emotion, connection, and real moments, whether that’s in a softly lit boudoir session or under the bright lights of a boxing ring.

Edinburgh delivered an unforgettable night—full of drama, adrenaline, and inspiration. And while I’ll always have a deep love for the calm, empowering atmosphere of boudoir photography, it’s experiences like this that keep my creativity alive and evolving.

If you’re curious about boudoir photography or want to experience a completely different kind of confidence-boosting session, feel free to reach out. I promise—it’s a world away from the boxing ring, but just as powerful in its own way.
