FAQs

I don’t have any confidence or know how to pose, can I still do a Boudoir Photoshoot?

Yes—you can absolutely do a boudoir photoshoot even if you have no confidence and don’t know how to pose. In fact, many people book a boudoir session for that exact reason. Boudoir photography is not about being a professional model or already feeling confident; it’s about being guided, supported, and celebrated exactly as you are.

As a professional boudoir photographer I am trained to help clients who feel nervous, awkward, or unsure. I give clear, step-by-step posing direction, show you where to place your hands, how to shift your body, and even how to breathe and relax your face. You are never expected to “just know” what to do. Confidence is not a requirement—it’s often the result.

Boudoir sessions are designed to be empowering and personal. Lighting, angles, wardrobe choices, and gentle coaching all work together to highlight your natural features in a flattering and respectful way. Many people are surprised to discover that confidence grows during the session, not before it.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m not confident enough” or “I don’t know how to pose,” know that you’re not alone—and that those thoughts don’t disqualify you. Boudoir is for real people, not perfection. With the right photographer and mindset, it can be a positive, confidence-building experience that helps you see yourself in a whole new light.

I don’t want my images posted online, can I still do a Boudoir Photoshoot?

Yes—you can absolutely do a boudoir photoshoot without having your images posted online. Your privacy should always come first, and any reputable boudoir photographers should fully respect that. Choosing to keep your photos private is not unusual at all. In fact, many clients book boudoir sessions specifically for themselves or a partner and have no desire to share the images publicly.

You are always in control of how your photos are used. Saying “no” to online sharing does not change the quality of your experience or the care put into your session.

Boudoir photography is about empowerment, self-expression, and personal confidence—not exposure. Whether your photos live in a private album, a secure gallery, or are simply kept for you to enjoy, the experience can still be deeply meaningful and affirming. You deserve to feel safe, respected, and comfortable every step of the way. A boudoir photoshoot is for you, and your boundaries should always be honoured without question.

I am plus size, Can I still do a Boudoir Photoshoot?

Yes—you can absolutely do a boudoir photoshoot if you are plus size. (I hate that this is even a question!) Boudoir photography is for every body type, not just one size, shape, or look. Being plus size does not disqualify you from feeling confident, beautiful, or worthy of being photographed. In fact, many of my clients are plus size and I like to think I understand exactly how to pose, light, and style bodies of all shapes in flattering and empowering ways.

You do not need to lose weight, change your body, or wait for a “better time.” I will guide you through poses that feel comfortable and natural while highlighting your favourite features. Wardrobe, angles, and lighting are thoughtfully chosen to celebrate your body as it is right now—not to hide it.

Boudoir is not about fitting into a standard; it’s about self-expression and confidence. Many plus size clients walk into their session feeling nervous and leave feeling proud, empowered, and surprised by how incredible they look. Your size does not limit your beauty or your right to be seen. Boudoir is for real people with real bodies, and plus size bodies are absolutely welcome and deserving of that experience.

Do I bring my own outfits?

Yes - you do bring your own outfits for your boudoir photoshoot, and I recommend bringing up to five outfits to give you variety and flexibility during your session. Bringing your own wardrobe allows you to choose pieces that feel authentic, comfortable, and true to your personal style, which helps create images that feel confident and empowering.

When selecting outfits for a boudoir shoot, think about items that make you feel your best. This can include lingerie, bodysuits, oversized sweaters, button-down shirts, robes, or even meaningful personal pieces. Variety is key—mixing textures, colours, and coverage levels helps create a diverse gallery of images. Neutral tones photograph beautifully, but bold colours and statement pieces can also add personality.

Boudoir photography is about showcasing you, not following strict fashion rules. Bringing up to five outfits ensures your session feels customised, relaxed, and uniquely yours while maximising the final results of your boudoir experience. I recommend following the Instagram (@Robynallanphotography) or having a look at the gallery to see what kind of outfits others are wearing and take some inspiration from that.

What kind of Photography do you offer?

Although I specialise in boudoir photography, I also offer a wide variety of photoshoot experiences to meet different needs and occasions. From lifestyle and personal branding sessions to couples, maternity, and portrait photography, each shoot is approached with the same level of care, professionalism, and attention to detail. My goal is always to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you can feel confident and relaxed in front of the camera, no matter the type of session you choose. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, updating professional images, or simply wanting beautiful photos of yourself, I’m happy to help you find the right photoshoot experience that fits your vision.

Do I really receive all of my images ?

YES! You will receive all of your unedited images from the session, giving you the freedom to review every shot. From there, you can select the specific images you would like professionally edited (the amount varies on what package you have opted for) ensuring the final results reflect your personal preferences and favourite moments. This process allows for a more customised experience and guarantees you receive edits you truly love.

How long do the images take to be edited?

You leave your session with your unedited digital images (via WeTransfer) and once you have chosen your 25 images (or 9 if you have had a mini session) this can take 24/48 hours. You will receive these digitally also.

Do you offer printed options for my chosen edited images?

The short answer is no. I can point you in the right direction for printing facilities but I don’t offer this service.

I am getting married do you offer Bridal Boudoir Packages?

My Studio boudoir photoshoot is perfectly suited for bridal boudoir, offering complete flexibility for every bride-to-be.

Simply bring your own chosen bridal outfits—such as lingerie, robes, veils, or accessories—and your session will naturally transform into a beautiful bridal-themed shoot. This allows you to create intimate, elegant images that celebrate your journey toward marriage in a way that feels personal and authentic.

Many brides choose to bring a mix of bridal and non-bridal outfits, giving their photoshoot greater variety and allowing for both romantic bridal imagery and timeless boudoir portraits. This approach creates a diverse gallery that can feel soft and classic, bold and confident, or a combination of both.
