An Intimate Anniversary Photoshoot on Loch Tummel

There are some photoshoots that just feel completely right from the moment you arrive.

Fee and Steven’s anniversary photoshoot on the shores of Loch Tummel in Perthshire was one of those.

They had planned a beautiful, intimate anniversary celebration while wild camping beside the loch, but unfortunately their original photographer had to cancel at the last minute.

Thankfully, that’s where Robyn to the rescue came in.

An intimate anniversary photoshoot in Perthshire

When Fee and Steven contacted me, they were looking for something relaxed, personal and completely connected to the beautiful surroundings they had chosen for their anniversary.

Rather than a traditional studio or formal photoshoot, their plan was wonderfully simple: they were wild camping beside Loch Tummel, surrounded by the incredible Perthshire landscape, and wanted to capture the experience together.

And honestly, what a location.

Loch Tummel is one of those places that makes photographing couples incredibly easy. The landscape is spectacular, particularly when the evening light starts to change, and there is something very special about being able to photograph people somewhere that actually means something to them.

A beautiful Scottish sunset

The timing couldn’t have been better.

As we photographed Fee and Steven, the light began to soften and the sun started to set over Loch Tummel. The sunset was absolutely incredible, creating that gorgeous warm Scottish evening light that photographers spend half their lives hoping for.

But the scenery wasn’t the only beautiful thing there.

They were beautiful too.

There was something lovely about photographing the two of them together in such a private and intimate setting. Nothing felt overly posed or forced. It was simply the two of them, celebrating their relationship and their anniversary in a place they had chosen to spend time together.

That is exactly what I love about couples photography.

Over 1,500 photographs from their anniversary photoshoot

I spent around an hour and a half with Fee and Steven, photographing their anniversary experience around their wild camping spot and the surrounding area.

And when I delivered their gallery, they received more than 1,500 photographs.

Every image was edited and supplied in both colour and black and white, giving them plenty of options when it came to choosing their favourite memories from the evening.

Their total cost was just £305, which included my travel to and from Loch Tummel as well as the photography itself.

For me, that’s what photography should be about: creating a huge collection of memories that people can look back on rather than restricting them to a tiny number of photographs.

Private photography galleries are completely fine with me

Fee and Steven have chosen to keep their gallery completely private, and that is absolutely fine.

Not every photoshoot needs to be shared online.

In fact, I photograph lots of people who prefer to keep their images private, and I completely respect that. Your photographs belong to you, and you should always feel comfortable with how they are used.

So while I can’t show you their beautiful images here, I can tell you that this was one of those shoots where everything came together perfectly.

The couple.

The location.

The sunset.

The atmosphere.

The photographs.

Everything.

Anniversary photography in Scotland

An anniversary doesn’t have to involve a big party or elaborate celebration.

Sometimes the best way to mark another year together is simply to spend time somewhere beautiful with the person you love and have that moment documented.

Whether you’re planning a wild camping trip, a romantic getaway, a weekend in Perthshire or simply want photographs of the two of you somewhere meaningful, an anniversary photoshoot can be a brilliant way to create something you’ll have forever.

As a Perthshire photographer and Scottish photographer, I’m lucky enough to work in some incredible locations throughout Scotland, and I particularly love photographing couples outdoors.

From lochs and mountains to beaches, forests and dramatic Scottish landscapes, there are endless possibilities for creating photographs that feel personal rather than traditional.
