There are some clients who become so much more than clients. Samantha is one of those people.

After more than 14 boudoir photoshoots together, we’ve built an incredible level of trust, creativity and confidence. Every Scottish boudoir photography session is different, and every shoot celebrates Samantha’s journey, confidence and self-expression.

This time, we decided to create something truly unique.

Our location? The iconic Forth Road Bridge.

Outdoor Boudoir Photography in Scotland

As a Scottish boudoir photographer, I’m always looking for beautiful outdoor locations that offer dramatic landscapes and tell a story.

Scotland is filled with breathtaking scenery, and incorporating our incredible landscapes into outdoor boudoir photography creates images that are both powerful and artistic.

Our session on the Forth Road Bridge was carefully planned.

Samantha wasn’t wearing anything revealing that would cause alarm. She was covered, tasteful and respectful throughout the shoot. We deliberately chose a quiet time, and there were virtually no members of the public around.

As always, we worked quickly, respectfully and remained aware of our surroundings.

An Unexpected End to the Photoshoot

Part way through the session, members of the bridge maintenance team approached us.

They explained they had been asked by the administration tower to tell us to stop photographing.

To be absolutely clear, the maintenance staff themselves were polite and professional. We immediately agreed to wrap up the session without argument.

But the experience left me feeling incredibly disappointed.

The Week Before Couldn’t Have Been More Different

Ironically, only the previous week I’d photographed two different clients on the very same bridge.

It had been one of Scotland’s hottest days of the year.

The bridge was busy with walkers, cyclists and visitors enjoying the sunshine.

The maintenance team chatted with us, smiled, and even joined in with the light-hearted atmosphere.

There was no issue whatsoever.

Which made this week’s experience feel even harder to understand.

Respecting Public Spaces

One thing that matters enormously to me is respect.

Every location photoshoot in Scotland is planned with consideration for other people.

I never block walkways.

I never interfere with members of the public.

I never create disruption.

And I always leave a location exactly as I found it.

Photography in a public place is generally lawful in Scotland, provided you’re acting responsibly and complying with any applicable rules or restrictions for that location.

When we were asked to stop, we did exactly that.

Confidence Through Boudoir Photography

For Samantha, boudoir photography has never been about shocking people.

It’s about confidence.

It’s about celebrating the body you have today.

It’s about documenting personal growth and creating beautiful artwork that tells your story.

After more than fourteen sessions together, watching Samantha become more confident every year has been one of the greatest privileges of my career as a Scotland boudoir photographer.

That’s why this experience felt so disappointing.

Not because the session ended early.

But because something that was intended to celebrate confidence and creativity suddenly became something that felt unwelcome.

We Won’t Stop Creating

This experience won’t stop us exploring beautiful Scottish locations.

There are countless incredible places across Scotland for outdoor boudoir photography, empowerment photography, female portrait photography, confidence photoshoots, and artistic boudoir sessions.

I’ll continue creating respectful, empowering images for women who want to celebrate themselves.

And Samantha?

We’ll simply find another spectacular Scottish location for shoot number fifteen.

Because confidence deserves to be celebrated, not hidden away.

If you’re considering a boudoir photoshoot in Scotland, know that every session I create is centred around respect, empowerment, professionalism and helping you see yourself in a whole new light.
