Why Some Love Stories Stay Private: A Woodland Pre-Wedding Session in Scotland
Not every beautiful photoshoot ends up on social media.
Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful couple during a relaxed woodland pre-wedding session here in Scotland. Surrounded by towering trees, soft woodland light, and the peaceful sounds of nature, we spent an afternoon capturing genuine moments as they prepared for their wedding day.
The session was everything a pre-wedding shoot should be—full of laughter, quiet moments, and the kind of connection that doesn’t need any posing or prompting. The photographs are stunning, and under different circumstances I would have loved to share them with the world.
But I won’t.
Because this couple asked for their images to remain private.
As a wedding and boudoir photographer, trust is at the heart of everything I do. Whether someone is standing in front of my camera in a wedding dress, sharing an intimate boudoir experience, or simply celebrating their relationship, they deserve complete control over how and where their images are used.
In an age where sharing online has become the norm, it’s easy to forget that consent matters. Every couple has their own reasons for choosing privacy. Some work in public-facing roles, some simply value keeping personal moments personal, and others just want those memories to belong to them and the people they love.
Whatever the reason, it’s always respected.
Photography is about preserving memories, not creating obligations. My clients should never feel pressured to have their images featured on websites, blogs, or social media. Their comfort and trust will always be more important than any marketing opportunity.
So while I can’t show you the beautiful images from this woodland adventure, I can tell you this: it was filled with love, laughter, and excitement for the future. And that’s exactly what great photography is all about.
To every client who places their trust in me—whether your images are shared with thousands of people or treasured privately at home—thank you. It is a privilege to tell your story, however you choose it to be told.
