A Motorcycle, A Couple & The Forth Road Bridge: One Seriously Iconic Pre-Wedding Shoot

Sometimes a photography idea comes along that just works.

And this one? Absolutely worked.

Back in 2024, I had the pleasure of photographing an incredible couple for a pre-wedding photoshoot at one of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks — the Forth Road Bridge — with one very important extra addition…

The groom-to-be’s bike. 🏍️

I was actually asked today about doing a couple’s motorcycle photoshoot, which sent me digging through some of my older galleries. And honestly, I had completely forgotten just how sensational this shoot was.

So, naturally, I had to pull the images out and share them on my new website.

Because seriously…

Unbelievable, right?

Pre-wedding photography doesn’t have to be traditional

When people hear “pre-wedding photoshoot”, they can sometimes imagine something very formal and posed.

But it doesn’t have to be that at all.

Your pre-wedding shoot should feel like you.

If you’re a couple who love motorcycles, bring the bike.

If you love the outdoors, let’s head outside.

If there’s a particular place that means something to you both, let’s photograph you there.

And if you want something completely different from the usual romantic couple portraits, I’m absolutely here for that too.

This shoot was the perfect example of how adding something personal to your photography can completely transform the final images.

The bike wasn’t just a prop. It was part of the couple’s story, their personality and their relationship — and that made the photographs feel so much more authentic.

Motorcycle couple photography in Scotland

There is something seriously cool about photographing couples with their motorcycles.

You get the romance of a couple’s shoot combined with the attitude, movement and character of the bike.

And Scotland gives us some incredible backdrops to work with.

For this shoot, the Forth Road Bridge provided the perfect setting.

The structure of the bridge, the surrounding landscape and the sheer scale of the location created images that felt dramatic and cinematic, while still keeping the couple at the heart of every photograph.

It’s exactly the kind of location that can take a couples photoshoot from lovely to bloody hell, look at that!

A Forth Road Bridge photoshoot

The Forth Road Bridge is such an iconic part of the Scottish landscape, and it makes an incredible backdrop for photography.

Whether you’re looking for pre-wedding photography, engagement photographs, couples photography or something a little more alternative, the area around the Forth bridges can provide a completely different feel from a traditional studio shoot.

And that’s one of my favourite things about photography.

There isn’t one way to do it.

Your photographs don’t have to look like everyone else’s.

They can be personal, dramatic, romantic, fun, edgy, relaxed — or all of the above.

Planning a couple’s motorcycle photoshoot?

If you’re a couple with a motorcycle and you’re thinking, “Could we actually do something like this?”

YES.

Bring the bike.

Bring the outfits you feel amazing in.

Bring your personality.

And let’s create something that’s completely yours.

I regularly photograph couples across Scotland, and I’m also happy to travel for shoots. So if you’ve got a particular location in mind, don’t assume we’re restricted to my studio.

Some of the best photographs happen when we take the camera outside and make the location part of the story.

And if you’re planning a wedding, a pre-wedding shoot is also a brilliant way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day.

You get to see how I work, understand how I guide you through poses and movements, and — most importantly — realise that having your photograph taken doesn’t need to feel awkward.

And now I’m wondering… who else has a bike?

Looking back at these images in 2026 after being reminded about motorcycle couple photography today has definitely made me want to do more of them.

So if you’re sitting there thinking:

“I’ve got a motorbike and my other half would look bloody amazing on a shoot with it…”

You might be onto something.

Whether it’s a pre-wedding motorcycle photoshoot, engagement shoot, couples session or simply a photoshoot because you fancy creating some ridiculously good photographs together, get in touch.

I travel for photography across Scotland and beyond, so we can make the location work for you.

Because your photographs don’t have to fit into a box.

And judging by these?

A couple, a bike and an iconic Scottish backdrop make a pretty bloody good combination. 🖤🏍️
