Well, it IS a boudoir photoshoot, after all!
Meet Karen, who came to see me to celebrate turning the big 4-0, and honestly, I think this is one of my favourite reasons to book a boudoir photoshoot.
Because why wait for a special occasion to celebrate yourself when YOU are the special occasion?
A boudoir photoshoot five years in the making!
Karen has been following me on social media since 2020 and first reached out to me five years ago.
FIVE. YEARS.
Proof that your marketing works, folks… even if it takes five years for someone to finally book! 😂
And you know what? I absolutely love that.
Not everyone is ready to book a boudoir photoshoot the first time they come across my work. Sometimes you follow along, watch other women’s experiences, save a few pictures for inspiration, have a think about it and wait until the time feels right.
For Karen, that time was her 40th birthday.
And what a way to celebrate!
Never underestimate the power of moral support
Karen didn’t come alone. She brought her cousin along for moral support, which I absolutely love.
The funny thing is, I’d already met her cousin previously when she came with Karen’s sister.
So, naturally, I’m now wondering who is she going to bring with her next time! 😂
I do love seeing women support one another, especially when it comes to something as personal as boudoir photography. Having someone you trust there can make the whole experience feel that little bit easier.
And let’s be honest, if you’re going to celebrate turning 40 by having a boudoir photoshoot, why not have someone cheering you on?
Karen and I might just be the same person
There’s something about Karen that makes me feel as though we’re perhaps the same person in many ways.
We both turned 40 this year. We both started new businesses during Covid.
The only difference?
Karen has found the love of her life.
I’m still looking. 😂😂😂
I’ll just be over here with my camera, photographing gorgeous women and apparently marketing my business for five years before they book, while Karen is getting on with the romantic side of life!
In all seriousness, though, I think it’s lovely when you meet someone and recognise little bits of yourself in them. It makes the whole experience feel less like a business transaction and more like spending time with someone you genuinely connect with.
And that’s exactly how I want my boudoir sessions to feel.
Boudoir photography in Scotland: celebrating women at every age
Turning 40 can mean different things to different women. For some, it’s a milestone birthday. For others, it’s a chance to take stock, celebrate how far they’ve come or simply do something they’ve always wanted to do.
A boudoir photoshoot is a brilliant way to mark that moment.
Whether you’re celebrating a 30th, 40th, 50th or simply fancy doing something for yourself, you don’t need a particular reason to book a session.
You don’t need to look a certain way, know how to pose or have any modelling experience. My job is to guide you through the process and help you create photographs that celebrate YOU.
I’m Robyn Allan, a boudoir photographer based in the Perth area of Scotland, and I love creating personal, confidence-boosting boudoir photography experiences for women.
Every woman has her own story, and every session is different. Some women come alone, others bring a friend or family member for support, and some have been following my work for years before finally taking the plunge.
There is no right or wrong way to do it.
Karen gave me permission to share her entire gallery!
Here’s the part that makes me particularly happy.
Karen has very kindly given me permission to share anything from her session, so I’ve edited her FULL gallery for you to enjoy.
That’s right. Not just a handful of carefully selected photographs. The whole lot!
I love being able to share these sessions because it gives other women a genuine look at what boudoir photography can be like, rather than only seeing one or two images.
And, of course, every client gets to decide whether their photographs are shared. Many women prefer to keep their images completely private, and that’s absolutely fine too. Karen was happy for me to share hers, and I’m incredibly grateful.
So, grab a cuppa, enjoy the gallery and remember that nudity warning from the beginning! 😂
Karen, thank you for trusting me with your 40th birthday celebrations, for giving me permission to share your gorgeous images and for finally making that booking after all these years.
And to everyone else who’s been following me since 2020…
I’m still here. My camera is ready. And apparently, patience really is a virtue when it comes to marketing! 😂❤️
