A sunny afternoon, a Frenchie, and two very soon-to-be newlyweds!

There are some pre-wedding photoshoots that are less about taking photographs and much more about getting to know the lovely people who are about to trust you with one of the biggest days of their lives. Robyn and Jamie’s pre-wedding shoot, with their adorable Frenchie Pip in tow, was exactly that!

We met at the dog park, which was the perfect choice for this little adventure. Pip could roam freely, explore her surroundings and just be a dog, while we enjoyed a wonderful sunny afternoon getting to know one another.

And honestly, what better way to break the ice than with a French Bulldog involved? 🐾

Pre-wedding photoshoots are about more than photographs

As a wedding photographer in Scotland, I always think a pre-wedding shoot is about so much more than having a few photographs taken before the big day.

Yes, I’ll snap away and capture a handful of lovely images along the way, but the real purpose is to say hello, have a chat, get comfortable with one another and find our rhythm.

Choosing your wedding photographer is about finding someone whose work you love, of course, but it’s also about finding someone you feel comfortable around. You’re going to spend a good chunk of your wedding day with me, so being able to relax, laugh and simply be yourselves makes such a difference.

I want you to feel that you can be completely yourselves in front of my camera. No awkward expectations, no pressure to perform and certainly no need to know what to do with your hands!

That connection matters. When your wedding day arrives, I want to feel less like a stranger with a camera and more like someone you already know and trust.

And then there’s Pip the Frenchie!

Of course, we couldn’t have a pre-wedding shoot with Robyn and Jamie without mentioning Pip!

Including your dog in your pre-wedding photographs is a brilliant way to make the session personal, especially when your four-legged family member is such a big part of your lives.

Meeting at the dog park meant Pip had the freedom to wander, sniff and enjoy herself rather than being expected to sit perfectly still for an entire photoshoot. Sometimes, the best photographs happen when you simply let things unfold naturally.

Whether you’re planning a wedding with your dog involved, hoping for some relaxed couple portraits, or just want to include the whole family in your photographs, I’m always happy to chat about making that happen.

I’m VERY excited for this wedding!

I came away from our sunny afternoon feeling so excited for Robyn and Jamie’s wedding day.

And there’s another reason I’m particularly looking forward to it: their wedding venue is right up my street!

I won’t give too much away just yet, but let’s just say it’s the sort of setting that gets my creative brain going. Knowing the venue and already having that connection with the couple makes me even more excited to see everything come together.

There’s something lovely about meeting two people who are about to become husband and wife, hearing a little about their plans and knowing that the next time we meet, it will be their wedding day.

The countdown is officially on!
