posing and all the feminine energy that comes with a boudoir photoshoot. Others are a little more comfortable in the gym, throwing punches in boxing gloves and generally doing anything that doesn’t involve being called a girly girl.
Meet Kelly. 👋😂
Kelly and Sam often come to see me together, and if you know these two, you’ll know they have their own individual personalities. Sam is quite happy to embrace an experience like a water boudoir photoshoot, whereas Kelly is perhaps a little less convinced by the whole idea!
When Sam booked her water session, I decided to advertise another space at a discounted price. Once you’ve gone to the effort of setting up and taking down the equipment for a water boudoir photoshoot, you may as well make the most of it, right?
It’s a bit of a mission getting everything ready, so another opportunity to use the setup made perfect sense.
And then Kelly got in touch.
Apparently, Sam had talked her into it.
My response?
“Are you sure?” 😂😂😂
I mean, I had to ask!
Stepping outside your comfort zone
Water boudoir photography is a little different from a traditional studio boudoir session. There’s the water, the movement, the atmosphere and the opportunity to create something artistic, dramatic and completely different from your usual photographs.
It’s not necessarily everyone’s first choice, particularly if you’re someone who would rather be lifting weights or putting in rounds at boxing than posing in front of a camera.
But that’s one of the things I love about boudoir photography in Scotland. There isn’t one particular type of woman who belongs in front of my camera.
You just need to be willing to give yourself a chance.
And sometimes, a little encouragement from your friend helps too!
More than just a photoshoot
Here’s the thing about Kelly.
She’s not just someone who books a photoshoot. She’s a real friend, a genuine support and someone who shows up for the people she cares about.
She’s there for Sam, in ways that probably deserve far more recognition than she’d ever want me to give her publicly.
But here I am, doing exactly that. 👋😂
I’ll leave the embarrassing details out… for now!
It’s easy to forget that sometimes the people who make the biggest difference in our lives aren’t the ones making the most noise. They’re the ones who turn up, stand beside us and make sure we’re not doing life alone.
And I think that’s worth celebrating.
So, Kelly, thank you for being you. Thank you for supporting Sam, for trusting me enough to give the water session a go, and for being willing to step into something that might not have been your usual kind of thing.
Most importantly, you had fun. And that is what matters most to me.
Will Kelly be back?
Well, I suspect I’ll see Kelly again next year.
At least, I hope I will! 😂❤️
Whether it’s another water boudoir photoshoot, a completely different studio session or something else entirely, there’s always room for a bit of laughter, a little adventure and photographs that remind you of who you are.
