Some come back a few times.

And then there are clients like Lynette, who have become very familiar faces in front of my camera.

This time, though, Lynette decided to try something a little different.

She came back for one of my water boudoir photography sessions — and what a session it was.

Amazing.

Welcome to the black studio

My water sessions are set up in my black studio, creating a completely different atmosphere from a traditional boudoir photoshoot.

Warm water is used, and the whole setup allows us to create images that are dramatic, sensual, creative and completely different from a standard boudoir session.

It’s one of those shoots where you can really experiment with movement, light, water and reflections.

And when you’ve already experienced a few boudoir sessions with me, it’s a brilliant way to try something completely new.

A water boudoir session for the more experienced client

I’ll be honest — I would usually recommend the water sessions to clients who are already comfortable with being photographed.

They’re fun.

They’re different.

They’re unique.

And they’re definitely a little more adventurous.

There’s something about getting into a pool of warm water, getting your hair wet and throwing yourself into a completely different style of photography that takes a certain amount of confidence.

But if you’ve already done boudoir photography and you’re looking for something that feels more creative, more experimental and completely different, this could be the session for you.

And Lynette absolutely smashed it.

A familiar face — and a familiar friend

Lynette didn’t come alone either.

She brought her friend along, who had actually joined me for her own bridal boudoir photoshoot last year.

I love when clients recommend me to their friends.

There’s something lovely about seeing people return to the studio together and getting to be part of these different chapters in their lives.

And I think it says a lot when someone you’ve already photographed comes back — and then brings their friend too.

Three outfits, hair and makeup… and a piano

Lynette came camera-ready with her hair already done and also had her makeup professionally done before the session.

She brought three outfit changes, giving us plenty of variety throughout the shoot.

And because apparently a water boudoir session wasn’t quite enough…

She also jumped on the piano for a photograph. 😂

Because why the hell not?

That’s one of the things I love about my sessions.

Yes, I can guide you through poses.

Yes, I can help you work out what outfits will photograph beautifully.

But if you’ve got an idea?

The best photographs often come from embracing the slightly unexpected.

Why try a water boudoir photoshoot?

A water boudoir session isn’t simply a normal boudoir shoot with some water added.

The water becomes part of the photograph.

It creates movement.

It changes the way the body looks.

Hair moves differently.

Fabric moves differently.

Light behaves differently.

And suddenly you’re creating images that have a completely different feeling.

They’re artistic.

They’re dramatic.

They’re sensual.

And they can be incredibly striking.

It’s also just bloody good fun.
