There’s something rather special about an October pre-wedding photoshoot in Scotland. The crisp air, that gorgeous autumn sunshine, and the kind of golden light that makes you fall in love with photography all over again. Add a lovely couple and a very good doggo into the mix, and you’ve got yourself a pretty perfect afternoon!
Mia and Sam’s pre-wedding photoshoot was exactly that. A chance to meet, get comfortable in front of the camera, have a little wander, and capture some beautiful photographs before their big day.
If you’ve ever wondered what happens during a pre-wedding photoshoot, it’s not all about posing for the camera. Yes, I’ll take a few photographs, but for me, it’s really about getting to know you both, having a chat, finding our rhythm and making sure that when your wedding day arrives, I’m not just another person with a camera pointed at you.
By the time your wedding comes around, we’ve already met, had a laugh and hopefully banished a few of those camera nerves!
And of course, when there’s a four-legged family member involved, they’re every bit as welcome to join the fun. 🐶
From October sunshine to wedding-day excitement
As I write this, Mia and Sam are getting married TOMORROW!
Now, if you’ve been keeping an eye on the forecast, you’ll know that an amber weather warning is looming. But are we going to let that dampen our spirits? Absolutely not!
Scottish weather has a personality of its own, and if there’s one thing you learn as a wedding photographer in Scotland, it’s that you need to embrace whatever the skies decide to throw at you.
Rain, wind, sunshine or a little bit of everything, the most important thing is the people, the love and the memories we’re there to capture.
Mia and Sam have a lovely, intimate wedding planned, followed by a reception in a very trendy wine bar. Honestly, it sounds right up my street, and I’m already looking forward to seeing how their day unfolds. 🥂
Why I love pre-wedding photoshoots
Whether you’re planning a big celebration or a small, intimate wedding, a pre-wedding photoshoot is a lovely way to get comfortable with your wedding photographer before the day itself.
It gives us time to chat, get to know each other and create some natural couple photographs without the time pressures of a wedding schedule. It also gives your doggo a chance to be part of the memories, which is always a bonus!
At Robyn Allan Photography, I want my couples to feel relaxed enough to be themselves. You don’t need to know how to pose, you don’t need to be models, and you certainly don’t need to spend the whole session wondering what to do with your hands. That’s my job!
My approach to wedding photography is about capturing genuine moments, real connection and the little details that make your relationship yours.
Next stop: wedding bells!
Mia and Sam, thank you for such a lovely October afternoon. It was wonderful meeting you both properly ahead of your wedding, and I’m so excited to be part of the next chapter.
Tomorrow, we’ll embrace whatever the Scottish weather has planned, celebrate the two of you, and make some memories worth keeping.
Amber weather warning or not, let’s do this! 🥂🤍
If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Scotland who loves relaxed, intimate weddings, natural couple photography and capturing the moments that matter, I’d love to hear about your plans.
