Because long before I became their wedding photographer, I met Stephanie on TikTok.

And honestly, this story goes back to 2020…

From TikTok to a wedding at The Gailes

I first came across Stephanie on TikTok back in 2020.

We connected, and it became very clear very quickly just how amazing she was.

Funny.

Beautiful.

Charming.

Kind.

Polite.

Just an all-round bloody lovely person.

And clearly, I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Stephanie has built an incredible community of more than 100,000 followers, and from everything I’ve seen, they adore her just as much as I do.

Back then, Stephanie travelled from the Glasgow area all the way to me to take part in one of my women’s empowerment airport photoshoots.

And she travelled alone.

She walked into that shoot not knowing what to expect, and by the end of it, everyone had completely fallen in love with her.

Including my late mum.

That is a memory I will treasure forever.

So when Stephanie later got in touch to ask if I would photograph her wedding, I was honestly taken aback.

This woman has an abundance of connections.

She knows SO many people.

And somehow, she chose me.

My response?

“Absolutely. I’m free.” 😂

How could I possibly have said no?

And just like that, we had come full circle.

A beautiful twilight wedding at The Gailes, Irvine

Stephanie and John chose The Gailes in Irvine for their wedding day, and what a beautiful setting it was.

Their wedding day was filled with love, laughter, family and all the little moments that make a wedding completely unique.

And at the centre of it all were two people who had already waited far too long to officially become husband and wife.

The wedding that had to wait

Stephanie and John were actually supposed to get married just as COVID-19 was beginning to take over the world.

But, as we all know, the world had other ideas.

Plans changed.

Weddings were postponed.

Lives were put on hold.

And couples across the country were forced to wait for their wedding day.

Stephanie and John were one of them.

But here’s the beautiful thing.

When their wedding day finally came around, they wore the very same dress Stephanie had originally planned to wear.

And while the dress may have been waiting all that time…

Their love for each other certainly wasn’t standing still.

If anything, it was stronger than ever.

After everything they’d been through together, finally seeing them get their wedding day was incredibly special.

A wedding day for a beautiful family

There are weddings where you arrive as the photographer, take some photographs and leave at the end of the day.

And then there are weddings where you feel genuinely honoured to have been invited into someone’s story.

This was one of those weddings.

I’ve known Stephanie since 2020.

I’ve seen her confidence, her personality and her kindness.

I’ve met her before she was a bride.

I’ve watched her build her incredible online community.

And now I got to stand there with my camera and photograph her marrying John.

That’s pretty bloody special.

It wasn’t just about photographing a wedding.

It was about documenting a moment in the life of a family I had already grown incredibly fond of.

The people you love being together in one room.

Those are the photographs that tell the story of your wedding day.

And I’ll certainly never forget standing there years later, photographing you marrying the man you love.

Life really does have a funny way of bringing people back around.

To a women’s empowerment photoshoot…

To a wedding at The Gailes.

A full-circle moment for sure.
