New Year, New Habits?
For the last week (yoo hoo big summer blow out, new years motivation ahoy!) I’ve had a camera on me every day. Practically all day everyday. it’s been stuck to me as much as my phone is.
I’ve been intentionally looking around me and capturing images that I enjoy. One click. One image.
The exercise has actually been really eye opening (which is ironic because my eyes are constantly squinting when taking pics 🥴)
92 images in a week. 92 intentional images.
Most of these images my children have been around and what’s fascinating (and the eye opening part) is that in a lot of these images it’s taken them to see it on the camera to appreciate what they saw in real life?! I’m not sure I’m making much sense but as an example, the beautiful fluffy dog. We had a wonderful interaction with that dog but it was at the start of the walk, and by the end of the walk the interaction was a fleeting memory UNTIL the kids were reminded of it on camera
Them - “awww that dog was so nice. What was its name again? I wonder how often they have to wash her. So well behaved. I wonder how often they’re stopped so people can speak to the dog”
Or
“That sunset was so beautiful! what time is the sunset in January? Do you remember that time we came out the pub and the whole sky was red?!
Images creating conversation that for some reason doesn’t happen when it’s with my phone. That intentional motion of pausing to take a picture makes everyone pause and that’s been my biggest take home from this last week.
Family connection, An unexpected bonus of me trying to form new habits and ignite creative joy again.
So unfortunately for you, dear audience, every week im going to share my favourite images. Well that’s the plan. Let’s see how long it lasts
